What we offer

in Mentone

Apex Moving provides removalist services in Mentone, a bayside suburb of period homes, postwar houses and a growing amount of apartment stock near the station. The land falls away to the beach along the western edge, and street width and parking change noticeably as you move towards it.

Removalists in Mentone

Mentone sits in the City of Kingston, roughly 21 kilometres south-east of the CBD, on the bay between Cheltenham, Parkdale and Moorabbin. It is one of the older bayside suburbs and the housing shows the layers: Edwardian and interwar homes on the established streets, postwar brick behind them, large rebuilds replacing originals, and a substantial amount of newer apartment development close to the station and the shopping strips.

Apartments and buildings near the station

A growing share of moves here are in or out of an apartment rather than a house, and those run on the building rather than the street. Most of the newer blocks have a lift and a loading bay, but many require the lift to be booked and padded through building management and some restrict loading to set hours. Older walk-up blocks generally have no lift, a shared driveway and few visitor bays. We ask which building you are in when we quote so the access is arranged rather than assumed.

Period homes and narrow streets

The older houses bring the usual constraints: narrow hallways, door openings well under modern widths, original floorboards and leadlight that need protecting, and in the two-storey homes a staircase with a tight turn. Streets in the established pockets are narrow with cars parked both sides, leaving one working lane, and the land falls towards the foreshore so some driveways drop steeply to a garage under the house. We check the driveway and the grade when quoting.

Parking, the beach and the highway

Streets on the beach side fill with foreshore parking through summer and on warm weekends, and the school traffic around the suburb adds to the morning peak. Nepean Highway carries clearway restrictions in peak periods, so any address fronting it is loaded outside those windows. Earlier starts are consistently easier here than mid-morning ones.

Getting around

Mentone station sits on the Frankston line beside the Como Parade shops. For trucks the useful routes are Nepean Highway, Balcombe Road, Warrigal Road, Charman Road and Beach Road, with the Mornington Peninsula Freeway a short run east. Beach Road carries heavy cycling traffic on weekend mornings, which is worth allowing for when scheduling.

Where Mentone moves go

Most stay along the bayside strip: Parkdale, Cheltenham, Moorabbin, Beaumaris, Highett or Mordialloc. There is also a steady pattern of downsizing out of the older family homes into local apartments, and families moving in for the schools, the beach and the train line.
