What Our Client Says

Removalists in Footscray
Footscray sits in the City of Maribyrnong, roughly 5 kilometres west of the CBD, on the Maribyrnong River between Seddon, Yarraville, West Footscray and Kensington. It has changed faster than most inner suburbs over the past two decades, and that shows in the housing: rows of nineteenth-century single-fronted cottages and workers’ terraces on narrow streets, former industrial buildings converted to studios and offices, and a dense cluster of newer apartment buildings around the station and the Joseph Road precinct by the river.
Two very different kinds of move
A cottage move in the older streets is about street width and doorways. Frontages are narrow, on-street parking is contested and permit-controlled, hallways are tight and staircases are steep, so wardrobes, sofas and fridges regularly need to come apart or take a different route in. An apartment move is about building rules: a booked service lift, a loading dock slot within set hours, and usually a certificate of currency from your removalist before a crew can start. Neither is difficult, but they need different planning, so tell us which you have when you book.
Parking and permits
Across most of the residential grid a full-size truck cannot simply stop outside the door. We plan the standing spot and the carry distance when we quote, and where a temporary parking permit is required the City of Maribyrnong is the body to arrange it with. That is worth starting well ahead of the day rather than the week of the move.
Getting around
Footscray station is one of Melbourne’s busier interchanges, serving the Werribee, Williamstown and Sunbury lines as well as regional services, and the suburb has an unusually dense street grid around it. For trucks, Ballarat Road, Geelong Road, Whitehall Street and Dynon Road are the main connections, with the West Gate Freeway and CityLink close by. That makes moves to the western suburbs, the port, the airport corridor or interstate straightforward once loaded, though the approaches are slow in both peaks.
Where Footscray moves go
Many stay in the inner west: Seddon, Yarraville, West Footscray, Maidstone or Braybrook. Others are people leaving an apartment for a house further out, or moving into one of the newer riverfront buildings. Either way, we start with access at both ends, because in Footscray that is what decides the crew size and the schedule.
