How Much Does Moving Cost in Melbourne?
What your move costs comes down to a handful of things: how much you are moving, how easy the access is at both ends, how many flights of stairs are involved, the distance between the two addresses, whether you want packing included, when you move, and any heavy or specialist items such as a piano or a safe.
Our Melbourne hourly rates include GST and have a two-hour minimum:
- 2 movers and a standard truck: $140 to $180 per hour
- 3 movers and a large truck: $180 to $260 per hour
- 4 or more movers and a heavy-duty truck: $260 to $320+ per hour
A call-out fee applies according to truck size: $70 for a small truck, $85 for a medium truck and $105 for a large truck. Stair charges are $40, $80 and $120 for one, two and three flights.

How Your Melbourne Move Works
1. Enquiry and quote
You tell us the pickup and delivery addresses, your preferred date and roughly what is going. A room-by-room list or a few photos is enough for us to come back with a quote.
2. Confirm your requirements
We check the details that change the job: stairs, lift bookings, parking and driveway access, anything fragile or unusually heavy, and whether you want packing included.
3. Schedule the move
Once you accept the quote we lock in your date and time, and confirm the crew size and truck that suit the job.
4. Preparation and loading
On the day our crew wraps and protects your furniture, disassembles what needs to come apart, and loads the truck in an order that keeps everything secure for the trip.
5. Transport
Your goods travel to the new address with the load secured. For longer runs beyond the metro area we confirm timing with you in advance.
6. Delivery and unloading
We unload, put furniture in the rooms you want, reassemble what we took apart and clear away the packing debris before we finish.
What to Expect When Moving in Melbourne
Parking and loading zones
Plenty of inner-Melbourne streets are permit-only, narrow, or subject to clearway restrictions, and some councils want a permit or a booked loading bay before a removal truck can park legally. Permits usually have to be applied for several days ahead, so check with your council as soon as your date is set. Where a truck cannot get close, a longer carry adds time to the job, and we would rather price that in than surprise you with it.
Apartments, lifts and building access
Apartment buildings in the CBD, Southbank, Docklands and the inner suburbs generally require a lift booking through building management, and many ask for a certificate of currency from your removalist before they will release the lift. Ask your building manager what they need early, because a missed lift booking can cost you the whole moving slot.
Busy periods
The end of the month, weekends, and the December to January stretch are the busiest times for Melbourne removalists, and those dates fill first. If you have any flexibility, a midweek or mid-month move is easier to schedule and easier to plan around.
Traffic and inner-city streets
