Removalists Across Regional Victoria

Apex Moving is a Melbourne removalist company, and a good share of our work runs out past the metropolitan boundary into regional Victoria. We move households and businesses from Melbourne out to the country, from regional towns back into the city, and between regional centres.

Regional moves are not simply longer versions of a city job. The drive between the two addresses becomes a real part of the day, country properties often sit on larger blocks with their own access problems, and the timing has to work around a handover that may be hours from where the truck started.

Tell us both addresses, your dates and roughly what is going, and we will quote it properly. You can book your move online, get in touch, call 0470 515 895 or email info@apexmoving.com.au any day of the week.

If your move is entirely inside the metropolitan area, our Melbourne removalist page covers local jobs across the city.

Regional Victoria Areas We Cover

We travel right across the state. These are the regions we work in most often, with the towns where we already have a local moving page. If your town is not on the list it does not mean we do not go there.

Melbourne To Regional Victoria Moves

Melbourne to regional Victoria

The most common regional move we do. People leave the city for more land, a coastal town, a tree change or a job, and the move pairs a metropolitan pickup with a country delivery.

The two ends behave differently. In the city the constraint is usually parking, a permit, a booked lift or a narrow street. At the country end it is the driveway, the gate, the ground underfoot and how close a loaded truck can get to the door. We ask about both before quoting.

Regional Victoria to Melbourne

The run works the other way just as often, with people moving into the city for work, study or to be closer to family.

If you are moving into an apartment or a unit, tell us early whether the building needs a lift booking, because many will not release the lift without paperwork from the removalist. Our Melbourne removalist page covers how the city end works.

Between regional towns

We also move between regional centres without the job touching Melbourne at all, such as Geelong to Ballarat or Bendigo to Shepparton.

These are quoted the same way: what is going, the access at both ends, and the distance between them. Confirm your exact pickup and delivery addresses with us, because coverage varies by where each end actually sits.

Regional Home Moves

Most of our regional work is households: houses, units, townhouses and farmhouses. The furniture is wrapped and protected, beds and flat pack come apart, and everything goes back together in the rooms you want at the other end.

What changes in the country is usually the property rather than the contents. Sheds, garages and roof spaces tend to hold more, outbuildings are common, and there is often more to go than a city home with the same number of bedrooms. Walk us through the outbuildings when you describe the job, not just the house.

Only moving furniture? If the job is a few large pieces rather than a whole household, our furniture removalists service is the better fit. For the full detail of what a complete household move includes, see house removalists.

Business Moves in Regional Victoria

We relocate offices and business premises in regional Victoria as well, including desks, workstations, filing, storage and equipment. A country business move is often easier to load than a city tower with a booked dock, but the scheduling matters just as much, because a regional business usually cannot afford to be shut for long.

Our office removalists page sets out how we plan a commercial relocation.

Planning a Regional Move

Start With Both Addresses

Tell us where you are moving from and to, and be specific about the country end. A street address in a town is straightforward. A property on a rural road, with a gate, a cattle grid or a few hundred metres of driveway, is a different job and worth describing properly.

Driveways, Gates and Ground

Long or unsealed driveways are the single biggest thing that changes a regional move. A large truck needs room to get in, turn and get out again, and soft or wet ground can stop one that would have been fine in summer. If you are not sure a large truck can reach the house, tell us and we will work out what to send.

Timing and the Handover

Regional moves are planned around the drive, not just the load. A long leg between the two addresses affects what time we start, whether the job finishes in one day, and how the delivery lines up with your settlement or the keys being released. Give us your handover time and we will build the day around it.

One Day or Two

Some regional moves load and deliver on the same day. Others work better staged, loading one day and delivering the next, particularly for a larger home or a longer run. We will tell you which applies to your job once we know what is going and how far it is travelling.

Both addresses and a rough list is all we need to price it.

A regional quote is worked out from what is going, the access at each end and the distance between them — not a flat rate. If the country end has a long driveway, a gate or limited turning room, tell us and we will work out what to send. For how moving costs are built up generally, see our guide to moving costs.

Preparing for a Country Move

Pack for the Distance

A regional run means more time on the road and more movement in the truck than a trip across town. Use strong cartons, fill the gaps so nothing shifts, and keep the heavy things in small boxes. It matters more the further you are going.

Clear the Sheds and Outbuildings Early

Sheds, garages, carports and roof spaces are where things get left behind, and on a regional move nobody is popping back the next day to collect them. Empty and sort them before the day, and tell us what is coming from them so the load is sized correctly.

Keep Your Essentials With You

Pack a box you keep in your own car: medication, chargers, documents, keys, toiletries and a change of clothes. If the delivery runs into the evening after a long drive, you will be glad it is not on the truck.

Check the Access at the New Place

If you have not been to the new property since you bought or leased it, have a look at the approach with a truck in mind. Low branches, a narrow gate, a tight bend or a steep driveway are all far easier to solve a week out than with a loaded truck at the gate.

How a Regional Move Works

STEP 01Tell us about both ends

Send us the pickup and delivery addresses, your preferred date and a rough inventory. A room-by-room list or a walk-through video is ideal, and for a rural property a photo of the driveway and gate helps more than you would think.

STEP 02Quote and date

We come back with the crew, the truck and the price for your job, worked out from what is going, the access at both ends and the distance between them. We confirm the price with you before anything is booked. If your date depends on a settlement, say so then, because country settlements shift like any other.

STEP 03Loading day

We walk the property with you, wrap and protect the furniture, take apart what needs to come apart, and load in an order that keeps everything secure for the drive. Nothing leaves until you have checked the sheds and the roof space with us.

STEP 04The drive

Your goods travel with the load secured for the distance. For longer runs we confirm timing with you in advance so you know roughly when to expect us at the other end.

STEP 05Delivery and placement

We unload into the rooms you nominate rather than stacking everything in one spot, reassemble what we took apart, and take the packing debris away. We do a final walk-through with you before we finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you move to and from regional Victoria?

Yes. We move households and businesses from Melbourne out to regional Victoria, from regional towns back into the city, and between regional centres. Tell us both addresses when you enquire and we will quote the job around the distance and the access at each end.

Which parts of regional Victoria do you cover?

We work across Geelong and the Surf Coast, Ballarat and the Goldfields, the Macedon Ranges, Bendigo and central Victoria, the Murray and the north, the north east and High Country, Gippsland, the Yarra Valley and the west and south west. If your town is not listed on this page, ask us rather than assuming we do not go there.

Do you move between regional towns without going through Melbourne?

Yes. A move from one regional centre to another does not need to touch Melbourne. We quote it the same way as any other job: what is going, the access at both ends, and the distance between them.

What if the property has a long or unsealed driveway?

Tell us before we quote. A large truck needs room to get in, turn and get out again, and soft or wet ground can stop one that would be fine in dry weather. If a large truck cannot reach the house we work out what to send instead, which is much easier to sort out beforehand than at the gate on the day.

Will my regional move be finished in one day?

It depends on how much is going and how far it is travelling. Some regional moves load and deliver on the same day, while larger homes or longer runs work better staged over two days. We will tell you which applies once we know your inventory and both addresses.

How do you price a regional move?

On what is going, the access at both ends and the distance between the two addresses. We work the crew and truck out from your inventory rather than a flat rate, and we confirm the price with you before anything is booked.

What about the shed, garage and outbuildings?

They count, and on country properties they often hold more than the house. Include them when you describe the job so the truck and crew are sized correctly, and clear them before the day. On a regional move nobody is coming back the next day for what was left behind.

Can you store my belongings if there is a gap between properties?

Yes. If your moving out and moving in dates do not line up, we can store your belongings until you are ready to take delivery. Storage is available at our Melbourne end only, so let us know early if a gap is likely.

Do you handle business and office moves in regional Victoria?

Yes. We relocate offices and business premises in regional Victoria, including desks, workstations, filing, storage and equipment. Scheduling matters most here, because a regional business usually cannot afford to be shut for long.

How far in advance should I book a regional move?

As early as you can, particularly at the end of the month, over weekends and through the December to January period. Regional jobs take a truck out of the metropolitan run for longer, so earlier notice gives you more choice of dates.
