Removalists in Melton West

Melton West sits in the City of Melton, roughly 37 kilometres west of the CBD, on the far western edge of metropolitan Melbourne beside Melton, Melton South and Kurunjang. It was built out largely from the 1980s onwards: brick homes on standard suburban lots laid out in curving streets and courts, with newer estate housing and townhouse infill added over the past two decades.

Distance and timing

The run is the single biggest difference between a Melton West move and a middle-suburbs one. A local move within the western corridor is straightforward, but anything to or from the inner suburbs, the north, the east or the bayside is a long leg each way on the Western Freeway, and the return trip is a real cost in time. We plan these with an early start to clear the freeway before the peak builds, and we set out the travel component in the written quote so it is not a surprise on the invoice.

Streets, courts and driveways

At the property, access is usually comfortable — streets wide enough to position a truck, private driveways and a short carry to the door. The court bowls are the exception: they look roomy and are typically the hardest place to turn a long vehicle once cars are parked around the edge. The newer estate pockets are tighter again, with compact lots, single-width driveways and cars on both sides leaving one working lane. We ask about the street and the driveway when we quote so the right size vehicle is sent.

Homes of this era and what they hold

Housing here is a mix of single and double-storey, and where there are stairs it is usually a straight flight with a turn at the landing — the point at which wardrobes, bed bases and larger sofas stall. Nearly every home has a garage, frequently with a shed as well, and between them they hold tools, garden equipment, sporting gear and stored boxes well beyond what an inventory usually captures.

Getting around

Melton station serves the area on the line out to Ballarat, with buses connecting the estates. For trucks the useful routes are the Western Freeway, Melton Highway, Coburns Road and Barries Road, giving a direct run into the city or west to Ballarat outside peak periods.

Where Melton West moves go

Most stay in the west: Melton, Melton South, Kurunjang, Brookfield, Caroline Springs or Bacchus Marsh. There is also a strong flow of first-home buyers and families arriving from the middle and inner western suburbs for the housing value.
