Removalists in Wantirna South
Wantirna South sits in the City of Knox, roughly 26 kilometres east of the CBD, between Wantirna, Scoresby, Vermont South and Rowville, wrapped around the large Knox shopping and business centre. It was developed mainly through the 1970s and 80s: brick and split-level homes on generous blocks, long curving streets and a high proportion of courts, with mature gardens and a steady flow of larger rebuilds and townhouse pairs since.
Courts, battle-axe blocks and grade
Access at most properties is comfortable, but three things are worth checking. Court bowls look roomy and are usually the hardest place to turn a long truck once cars are parked around the edge. Battle-axe and rear allotments are common here, with a narrow shared driveway running 20 or 30 metres back to the house and no turning space at the end. And the land undulates, so a share of properties sit above or below street level with driveways that climb or drop away. We ask about all three when we quote, and where a loaded truck cannot get in and back out we plan a shuttle from the street with the carry priced in.
Split levels and large blocks
Much of the original housing is split-level, with half-flights between living areas, a garage under the main floor and external steps to the front door. Wardrobes, sofas and appliances often need to come apart or take an external route, which changes the crew size rather than the truck. Block sizes also mean sheds, workshops, garden machinery, pool equipment, trailers and under-house storage are common, and they routinely add more to a load than the house does. We ask about outbuildings specifically.
Traffic around the centre
The Knox centre draws traffic from across the outer east, and the roads feeding it are the slow points, particularly on weekends and late afternoons. For addresses near the centre we set start times to load before that builds; the residential streets further out are far quieter.
Getting around
Wantirna South has no railway station; the suburb runs on cars and buses, with Bayswater, Boronia and Glen Waverley among the nearest rail connections. For trucks the useful routes are Burwood Highway, Stud Road, Ferntree Gully Road and Mountain Highway, with EastLink and the Monash Freeway a short run away.
Where Wantirna South moves go
Most stay in the outer east: Wantirna, Rowville, Scoresby, Vermont South, Boronia or Glen Waverley. There is also a regular pattern of downsizing off the large blocks into local townhouses, and families moving in for the space and the schools.
