Wheelers Hill sits in the City of Monash, roughly 22 kilometres south-east of the CBD, between Glen Waverley, Mulgrave, Rowville and Scoresby. It was developed mainly through the 1970s and 80s on some of the highest ground in the south-east: generous blocks, winding streets and courts laid out along the contours, mature gardens, and a housing stock dominated by split-level and two-storey brick homes with more recent rebuilds among them.

Slope and driveways

This is the part of a Wheelers Hill move that genuinely needs planning. A large share of properties sit well above or below street level, with driveways that climb or drop away steeply, often narrowing at the entry or bending before the garage. Whether a loaded truck can safely get in and back out again is worth settling when we quote rather than on the morning. These are the items most often left off an inventory and the most likely to change the truck size on the day, so we ask about outbuildings and stored goods specifically.

Getting around

Wheelers Hill has no railway station; the suburb runs on cars and buses, with Glen Waverley the nearest rail connection. For trucks the useful routes are Ferntree Gully Road, Springvale Road, Jells Road, Waverley Road and Wellington Road, with the Monash Freeway and EastLink a short run away. Springvale Road and the freeway ramps are slow in both peaks.

Most stay in the south-east: Glen Waverley, Mulgrave, Rowville, Notting Hill, Vermont South or Clayton. There is also a regular pattern of downsizing off the steep large blocks into flatter local townhouses, and families moving in for the space and the schools.
