Beveridge sits in the Mitchell Shire, roughly 45 kilometres north of Melbourne on the Hume corridor between Wallan, Kalkallo and Donnybrook. It was a small rural township for well over a century, and over the past decade large residential estates have been built out on the surrounding land, so the area now holds new housing, the original township and working farmland side by side.
New estates and older township blocks
These are two very different moving jobs. In the estates, streets may be newly sealed with unfinished verges, kerb space competes with trade vehicles and deliveries, and the road shown on a map may not be through yet — we check the current access route before the day rather than relying on navigation. Nature strips and unsealed edges stay soft after rain, so heavy vehicles stay on sealed surfaces. On the older township and rural blocks, driveways are long and often unsealed, with limited turning space at the house and gates to work through.
Stairs, sheds and what properties hold
Most of the newer housing is double-storey on a small footprint, which puts a narrow staircase and a tight landing turn between the truck and the bedrooms — wardrobes, bed bases and larger sofas are the pieces that stall. The rural and township properties are the opposite: easy entry but sheds, workshops, machinery, firewood and stored materials that routinely add more volume than the house. We ask which kind of property it is when we quote, because it changes the truck and the crew.
Distance and services
Beveridge is far enough out that the travel leg is a real part of the day in both directions, and the usual moving-day fallbacks — hardware, packing supplies, storage, equipment hire — mean a drive to Wallan or Craigieburn rather than a quick trip.
