Removalists in Clarinda

Clarinda sits in the City of Kingston, roughly 19 kilometres south-east of the CBD, between Clayton South, Oakleigh South, Bentleigh East and Heatherton. The original housing is postwar brick and weatherboard on generous blocks laid out on a broad, flat street grid, and over the past two decades a large share of those blocks have been subdivided, with two, three or four townhouses replacing a single house.

Subdivided blocks and shared driveways

This is the defining access issue in the suburb. Rear units sit down a long shared driveway, frequently with a bend and rarely with room to turn at the end, so a large truck usually cannot get past the first dwelling. The practical answer is to park at the front and carry, which is entirely workable when it is planned and expensive in time when it is not. When we quote we ask which unit you are and how far back it sits, then size the crew and the price for the carry rather than adding it on the day.

Original homes and newer townhouses

The remaining postwar houses have narrow hallways and door openings well under modern widths, so fridges and larger lounges often need internal doors off their hinges. Their block sizes also mean sheds, workshops, garden machinery and stored goods are common, and those routinely hold more than an inventory accounts for. The newer townhouses are the reverse: easy entry, then a narrow straight staircase with a tight landing turn where wardrobes and bed bases stall. We measure the awkward pieces against the route beforehand either way.

Flat streets, easy loading

One thing that works in your favour here is the terrain. Clarinda is flat, the streets are reasonably wide by middle-suburb standards, and there are no steep driveways or long flights of garden steps to contend with. Where the block has not been subdivided, these are among the more straightforward moves in the south-east.

Getting around

Clarinda has no railway station of its own, with Clayton and Westall the nearest connections and buses across the suburb. For trucks the useful routes are Centre Road, Kingston Road, Warrigal Road, Westall Road and Clarinda Road, with the Monash Freeway a short run north.

Where Clarinda moves go

Most stay in the south-east: Clayton South, Oakleigh South, Bentleigh East, Heatherton, Moorabbin or Springvale, with a lot of movement between the older houses and the new townhouses a few streets away. There is also a steady flow of families arriving for the schools and the housing value.
