Removalists in Edithvale
Edithvale sits in the City of Kingston, roughly 29 kilometres south-east of the CBD, on the bayside strip between Aspendale and Chelsea. It is a narrow suburb — the beach on one side, the Edithvale Wetlands on the other, and the Frankston railway line and Nepean Highway running the length of it. The housing began as beach cottages on long narrow allotments, and a good share of those have since been replaced with townhouses and unit developments.
Shared driveways and long carries
The narrow original blocks are why so many properties here now sit behind another dwelling. Two to four townhouses commonly share a single driveway with a bend part-way down and no room to turn at the end. A truck usually cannot reach the rear units, so the practical answer is to park at the front and carry, which is fine when it is planned and expensive in time when it is not. When we quote we ask which unit you are and how far back it sits, then size the crew for the carry.
Cottages, townhouses and stairs
The remaining original cottages are small-footprint weatherboards with narrow hallways and tight doorways, where the internal route is the constraint rather than the street. The newer townhouses are the reverse: easy entry, then a narrow straight staircase with a tight turn at the landing where wardrobes, bed bases and larger sofas stall. We measure the awkward pieces against the stair route before the day.
Parking, the highway and the line
Streets on the beach side fill with foreshore parking through summer and on warm weekends, so an earlier start in the warmer months is worth the alarm. Nepean Highway carries clearway restrictions through peak periods, so addresses fronting it are loaded outside those windows. The railway line splits the suburb lengthways, and a truck crossing from one side to the other may take a noticeably longer route than a car would.
Getting around
Edithvale station sits on the Frankston line, with the Station Street shops beside it. For trucks the useful routes are Nepean Highway, Edithvale Road, Station Street and Wells Road, with the Mornington Peninsula Freeway a short run east for anything heading out of the area.
Where Edithvale moves go
Most stay on the bayside strip: Aspendale, Chelsea, Bonbeach, Mordialloc, Carrum or Patterson Lakes. There is also a regular pattern of downsizing out of the older cottages into the new townhouses nearby, and buyers arriving from further inland for the beach and the train line.
