Removalists in Heidelberg Heights
Heidelberg Heights sits in the City of Banyule, roughly 11 kilometres north-east of the CBD, between Heidelberg, Heidelberg West, Rosanna and Ivanhoe. The housing is largely postwar — brick and weatherboard homes on regular blocks with reasonably wide streets — with older public-housing stock among it and a steady wave of townhouse and unit development on the subdivided sites.
Driveways, slope and shared access
Most of the suburb is comfortable to work in: a private driveway, a short carry and room to position a truck at the kerb. Banyule is hilly country, though, and a share of blocks here sit above or below street level with a driveway that climbs or drops away or a few steps up to the front door. Steps slow every trip and usually mean more crew rather than a bigger truck. Where blocks have been subdivided, units sit behind the original house down a narrow shared drive with no turning space, so the truck parks at the front and the crew carries. We ask about the driveway, the steps and the unit number when we quote so the day is priced for what is actually there.
Older homes and newer townhouses
The postwar houses have narrow hallways and door openings well under modern widths, so fridges and larger lounges often need internal doors off their hinges, and most have a garage or shed holding tools, garden equipment and stored boxes beyond what an inventory usually captures. The townhouses replacing them are the reverse: easy entry, then a narrow staircase with a tight landing turn where wardrobes and bed bases stall. We measure the awkward pieces against the route beforehand.
Bell Street and timing
Bell Street runs along the suburb as a major east-west route and is heavy through both peaks, with restrictions on parts, so any address on or near it is loaded outside those windows and start times are set to work around it rather than through it.
Getting around
Heidelberg Heights has no railway station of its own, with Heidelberg, Rosanna and Macleod the nearest connections on the Hurstbridge line and buses across Banyule. For trucks the useful routes are Bell Street, Waterdale Road, Oriel Road and Southern Road, with the Metropolitan Ring Road a short run north.
Where Heidelberg Heights moves go
Most stay in the north-east: Heidelberg, Heidelberg West, Rosanna, Ivanhoe, Macleod or Preston. There is also steady turnover in the unit stock, with part-loads more common there than full house moves, and first-home buyers arriving for the townhouse stock.
