Removalists in Kalkallo
Kalkallo sits in the City of Hume, roughly 32 kilometres north of the CBD, beyond Craigieburn on the Hume corridor next to Mickleham and Donnybrook. It was a small rural township for well over a century and is now one of the largest residential growth fronts in the north, with new estates being built out street by street alongside farmland that has not yet been developed.
Estates under construction
Moving into a suburb that is still being built has its own complications. Streets may be newly sealed with unfinished verges, kerb space competes with trade vehicles and deliveries, and the road you were told to take may not be through yet. Nature strips and unsealed edges stay soft after rain, so we keep heavy vehicles on sealed surfaces rather than risking a bogged truck. We check the current access route before the day rather than relying on navigation, and an early start consistently beats arriving mid-morning when the trades are on site.
Compact lots, stairs and older blocks
The new housing follows the current growth-corridor pattern: small front setbacks, single-width driveways, cars parked both sides leaving one working lane, and a lot of double-storey homes on a small footprint. That means a straight but narrow staircase with a tight landing turn, where wardrobes, bed bases and larger sofas stall. The older township and rural properties are the opposite — long driveways, often unsealed, with sheds and stored equipment that routinely add more volume than the house. We ask which kind of property it is when we quote, because it changes the truck and the crew.
Distance and services
Kalkallo is far enough out that the travel leg is a real part of the day, and the usual moving-day fallbacks — hardware, packing supplies, storage, equipment hire — mean a drive to Craigieburn or Epping rather than a quick trip. It pays to have materials on hand before the truck arrives, and we can supply packing materials in advance.
Getting around
Kalkallo has no railway station of its own, with Craigieburn and Donnybrook the nearest connections and bus coverage still developing as the estates fill in. For trucks the useful routes are the Hume Freeway, Donnybrook Road and Mickleham Road, with the Metropolitan Ring Road a run south.
Where Kalkallo moves go
Most stay in the north: Craigieburn, Mickleham, Donnybrook, Wollert, Epping or Roxburgh Park. The dominant pattern is arrivals — first-home buyers and families moving out from the middle northern suburbs for a new home in a new estate.
