Removalists in Lalor
Lalor sits in the City of Whittlesea, roughly 18 kilometres north of the CBD, between Thomastown, Epping, Mill Park and Reservoir. The original housing is postwar brick and weatherboard on generous blocks laid out on a flat, regular grid, and over the past two decades a very large share of those blocks have been subdivided, with units and townhouses built behind or in place of the original house.
Flat streets, easy positioning
The terrain and the layout work in your favour here. Lalor is flat, the streets are reasonably wide, and there are no steep driveways or long flights of garden steps to contend with. Where a block has not been subdivided, these are among the more straightforward moves in the north: park at the kerb or in the driveway, short carry, done.
Shared driveways and unit numbers
The infill is where it tightens. Two, three or four dwellings commonly share one driveway running back from the street, often with a bend and rarely with room to turn at the end, so a large truck cannot get past the first unit. The practical answer is to park at the front and carry, which is entirely workable when it is planned into the quote and expensive in time when it is not. We ask which unit you are and how far back it sits when we quote, then size the crew and the price for the carry.
Original homes, sheds and stored goods
The postwar houses have narrow hallways and door openings well under modern widths, so fridges and larger lounges often need internal doors off their hinges. The generous blocks mean garages, sheds and workshops are common, and with plenty of trade activity in the area those outbuildings often hold tools, equipment and materials well beyond ordinary household storage — consistently the most understated part of an inventory. We ask about them specifically.
High Street and loading
The High Street shops near the station are busy through the day with tight kerbside parking and loading restrictions, so any shopfront or above-shop move is planned around the available loading windows. High Street and Childs Road carry the through traffic and are heavy in both peaks.
Getting around
Lalor station sits on the Mernda line with the High Street shops beside it, and buses run across the suburb. For trucks the useful routes are High Street, Station Street, Childs Road, Settlement Road and the Metropolitan Ring Road, giving a direct run east or west outside peak periods.
Where Lalor moves go
Most stay in the north: Thomastown, Epping, Mill Park, Reservoir, Bundoora or Preston, with a lot of movement between the older houses and the new townhouses a few streets away. There is also a steady flow of first-home buyers arriving for the townhouse stock.
