Removalists in Lower Plenty
Lower Plenty sits in the City of Banyule, roughly 17 kilometres north-east of the CBD, between Montmorency, Eltham, Viewbank and Rosanna, on high ground above the Yarra and Plenty river valleys. It is one of the greener suburbs in the north-east: large blocks, mature native trees, winding streets that follow the contours, and a housing stock dominated by 1960s to 80s split-level homes with larger rebuilds among them.
Slope, driveways and truck height
This is where a Lower Plenty move needs real planning. The terrain is genuinely steep in places, and many houses sit well above or below the street with long driveways that climb or drop away, sometimes with a bend and a narrow entry. Mature trees overhanging the drive make vehicle height as much of a limit as width. Whether a loaded truck can safely get in and back out again is worth settling when we quote rather than on the morning, and where it cannot we plan a shuttle from the street with the carry included in the price. Wet weather makes a steep drive worse, so we build in a margin on those addresses.
Split levels, decks and steps
Houses built into the slope are commonly split-level, with half-flights between living areas, a garage under the main floor, and external steps or decking on the approach to the front door. Steps slow every trip and usually mean more crew rather than a bigger truck. Internally, wardrobes, sofas and appliances often need to come apart or take a different route through the house. We look at the approach and the internal route together, because on a sloping block they are the same problem.
Large blocks and outbuildings
Block sizes here mean sheds, workshops, garden machinery, firewood, trailers, boats and under-house storage are common, and they routinely add more volume than the house does. These are the items most often left off an inventory and the most likely to change the truck size on the day, so we ask about outbuildings and stored goods specifically.
Getting around
Lower Plenty has no railway station; the suburb runs on cars and buses, with Montmorency, Eltham and Rosanna the nearest connections. For trucks the routes that matter are Main Road, Lower Plenty Road, Rosanna Road and the Greensborough Highway, with the Eastern Freeway a longer run south. The narrow winding residential streets mean a smaller vehicle is often the faster option even when the load would fit a larger one.
Where Lower Plenty moves go
Most stay in the north-east: Montmorency, Eltham, Viewbank, Greensborough, Rosanna or Research. There is also a regular pattern of downsizing off the steep treed blocks into flatter local townhouses, and families moving in for the space and the bushland setting.
