Removalists in Malvern East
Malvern East sits in the City of Stonnington, roughly 10 kilometres south-east of the CBD, running east from Malvern towards Chadstone and bordered by Caulfield, Carnegie and Ashwood. It is a large and varied suburb: Edwardian and interwar homes on wide, treed streets through the Central Park and Gascoyne areas, denser unit and apartment development along Dandenong Road and Waverley Road, and the Chadstone retail precinct on its eastern edge.
Period homes and narrow driveways
The older housing has generous frontages but the driveways are usually single-width, sometimes shared, and many properties have a side path rather than a clear run to the rear. The houses themselves hold substantial furniture: solid timber wardrobes, sideboards, upright pianos, full bookcases and artwork, with hallways and staircases narrower than modern standard. That is straightforward work when it is planned for, so we ask about stairs, doorways and heavy pieces at quoting time rather than sending a crew to work it out on the day.
Units and apartments on the main roads
Along Dandenong Road and Waverley Road the job changes. Older walk-up flats mean stairs, narrow landings and turns. The newer apartment buildings usually require a booked service lift and a loading window set by the owners corporation, and often a certificate of currency from your removalist. Tell us which you have when you book and we will size the crew and the timing accordingly.
Traffic and the Chadstone factor
Dandenong Road is one of the busiest arterials in the south-east and slows badly in both peaks. The Chadstone precinct on the suburb’s edge adds significant traffic at weekends and through holiday trading periods, which is worth avoiding if your move is nearby. For most Malvern East jobs we recommend an early start so the load is finished before the roads fill.
Getting around
The suburb is served by Darling and East Malvern stations on the Glen Waverley line, with Holmesglen nearby, and trams along Dandenong Road. The Monash Freeway is a short run east, which makes moves out to the south-east or interstate straightforward once loaded.
Where Malvern East moves go
Many stay close: Malvern, Carnegie, Caulfield, Ashburton or Murrumbeena. There is a steady pattern of downsizing out of the period homes into local apartments, and families moving in for the block sizes and the schools. Longer moves need more planning around packing and load order, which we work through when we quote.
