What we offer

in Mill Park

Apex Moving provides removalist services in Mill Park, a northern suburb of 1980s and 90s estate housing laid out in courts and curving streets. Driveways are private and the carry is short; the court bowls are the tightest place in the suburb to turn a long truck.

Removalists in Mill Park

Mill Park sits in the City of Whittlesea, roughly 18 kilometres north-east of the CBD, between Bundoora, South Morang, Epping and Thomastown. It was built out mainly through the 1980s and 90s: brick homes on standard suburban lots, curving streets and courts, generous garages, and later townhouse and unit infill closer to the main roads and the shopping centre.

Courts and turning space

The estate layout keeps through traffic out, which makes the streets quiet and the loading calm, right up until a long truck needs to turn around. Court bowls look roomy and are usually the hardest place to manoeuvre once residents\u2019 cars are parked around the edge, and reversing the length of a court is slow work. We ask about the street layout when we quote so the right size vehicle is sent — a smaller truck doing two runs is often faster here than a large one doing one.

Driveways and subdivided blocks

At the property, access is generally easy: a private driveway, a short carry and no competition for kerb space. Where it tightens is the subdivided blocks, with a second or third dwelling behind the original down a narrow shared drive and no turning room at the end. There the truck parks at the front and the crew carries, which is entirely workable when it is priced in. We ask which unit you are and how far back it sits.

Homes of this era and what they hold

Housing from this period is commonly single or double-storey with a straight staircase and a turn at the landing, and that turn is where wardrobes, bed bases and larger sofas stall. Nearly every home has a double garage and often a shed as well, holding tools, garden equipment, sporting gear and stored boxes on top of the cars. That is consistently the most underestimated part of an inventory, so we ask about the garage and outdoor storage specifically.

Getting around

Mill Park has no railway station of its own, with South Morang and Epping on the Mernda line nearby and trams running up Plenty Road to the university precinct. For trucks the useful routes are Plenty Road, Childs Road, McDonalds Road and the Metropolitan Ring Road, which gives a direct run east or west outside peak. Plenty Road is heavy through both peaks and the tram tracks limit where a truck can stop, so loading happens on the side streets.

Where Mill Park moves go

Most stay in the north: Bundoora, South Morang, Epping, Thomastown, Greensborough or Mernda. There is also a steady pattern of downsizing out of the family homes into local townhouses, and families arriving from the middle northern suburbs for the block sizes and the schools.
