Removalists in Murrumbeena

Murrumbeena sits in the City of Glen Eira, roughly 12 kilometres south-east of the CBD, between Carnegie, Hughesdale, Malvern East and Oakleigh. It is a settled residential suburb of interwar and postwar homes on regular blocks and quiet streets, with a concentration of townhouses and low-rise apartments around the station and along Neerim Road and Murrumbeena Road.

Is access straightforward?

Generally yes. Streets take a full-size truck, parking is rarely heavily contested away from the shops, and most homes have a driveway with a short, level carry to the door. The exceptions to mention when you book are the townhouse rows built on subdivided blocks, where several dwellings share one driveway and the rear property is a longer carry, and the apartment buildings near the station, where a booked lift and a set loading window usually apply.

Older homes and what they hold

The interwar housing has narrower hallways and doorways than modern standard, and solid furniture is common — timber wardrobes, sideboards, upright pianos, full bookcases. Items regularly need to come apart or take a side path. Long-held homes also tend to have full garages, sheds and roof storage, which is where most volume underestimates come from. We ask about outbuildings and stored items specifically when quoting.

Getting around

Murrumbeena station is on the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines, and the elevated rail through this corridor has changed the street pattern beneath it, so some crossings and local access routes differ from older maps. For trucks, Dandenong Road, North Road, Poath Road and Murrumbeena Road are the main connections, with the Monash Freeway a short run east. Dandenong Road and North Road are slow in both peaks.

Where Murrumbeena moves go

Many stay close: Carnegie, Hughesdale, Oakleigh, Malvern East or Bentleigh East. There is a steady pattern of downsizing out of the older homes into local townhouses and apartments, and families moving in the other direction for the block sizes. Both are usually single-day jobs given how straightforward the access is.
