Removalists in Oakleigh
Oakleigh sits in the City of Monash, roughly 14 kilometres south-east of the CBD, between Huntingdale, Hughesdale, Clayton and Oakleigh South. It has two distinct halves for moving purposes: quiet residential streets of postwar brick and weatherboard homes on regular blocks, and a busy, increasingly vertical centre around the station, Eaton Mall and Portman Street where apartment development has been substantial.
The residential streets are straightforward
Away from the centre, Oakleigh is an easy suburb to work in. Streets are wide enough for a full-size truck, on-street parking is rarely contested, and most homes have a private driveway with a short carry to the door. What catches people out is volume rather than access: garages, garden sheds and roof storage in long-held family homes routinely hold more than expected. We ask about outbuildings specifically when quoting.
Apartments near the station
The newer buildings around the station are a different job. Most require a booked service lift, a loading dock slot within set hours, and a certificate of currency from your removalist before a crew can start; many owners corporations restrict moves to weekdays. Sorting that with your building manager a week ahead is normally the difference between a smooth start and a long wait outside.
Eaton Mall and the shopping precinct
Oakleigh’s café and restaurant strip is one of the busiest in the south-east, and loading access around it is tight and time-limited. Retail and hospitality moves here are generally best done early in the morning or outside trading hours, and that needs to be planned rather than attempted on the day.
Getting around
Oakleigh station is on the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines and is also a significant bus interchange. For trucks, Warrigal Road, Dandenong Road, North Road and Atherton Road are the main connections, with the Monash Freeway a short run north. That gives good access to the city, the outer south-east and interstate once loaded, though Warrigal Road and Dandenong Road are slow in both peaks.
Where Oakleigh moves go
Many stay in the south-east: Hughesdale, Clayton, Huntingdale, Murrumbeena or Oakleigh South. There is also a steady flow between the older houses and the new apartments within the suburb itself, usually short single-day jobs where the building booking matters more than the distance.
