Seaholme sits in the City of Hobsons Bay, roughly 13 kilometres south-west of the CBD, wedged between Altona, Altona North and the bay, with Kororoit Creek and the coastal parkland along its edges. It is one of the smaller bayside pockets in the west: postwar and beach-era houses on regular blocks, later brick homes, and newer builds and townhouses replacing originals on the subdivided sites.

Flat ground, narrow streets

The terrain here works in your favour — the suburb is flat, so there are no steep driveways, garage ramps or long flights of garden steps to contend with. What does matter is street width. Several of the residential streets are narrow with cars parked on both sides, leaving one working lane, which makes a large truck slow to position and slower to reverse out. On those addresses a smaller vehicle doing two runs is frequently the faster choice, and we ask about the street when we quote so the right truck is sent.

Foreshore parking and summer

Being a beach pocket, the streets closest to the foreshore and the coastal park fill with visitor parking through summer and on warm weekends. An earlier start in the warmer months is worth the alarm, since the difference between parking at the door and parking three houses away is measured in hours over a full load.

Homes, sheds and boats

The original houses have narrow hallways and door openings well under modern widths, so fridges and larger lounges often need internal doors off their hinges. Proximity to the water also means boats, trailers, fishing and outdoor gear turn up here more often than in most suburbs, along with the usual garage and shed storage — consistently the part of an inventory most often understated. We ask about outbuildings and anything on a trailer specifically.

Getting around

Seaholme station sits on the Werribee line, with buses connecting through Altona. For trucks the practical routes are Kororoit Creek Road, Millers Road, Queen Street and Blackshaws Road, with the West Gate Freeway and the Western Ring Road a short run north.

Where Seaholme moves go

Most stay in the west: Altona, Altona North, Altona Meadows, Williamstown, Newport or Laverton. There is also a steady flow of buyers arriving for bayside access at a lower entry point than Williamstown, and downsizers moving into the newer townhouse stock nearby.
