Removalists in St Albans
St Albans sits in the City of Brimbank, roughly 15 kilometres north-west of the CBD, between Sunshine, Deer Park, Keilor Downs and Kealba. The original housing is postwar brick and weatherboard on generous blocks laid out on a broad grid, and over the past two decades a very large share of those blocks have been subdivided, with two, three or four townhouses replacing a single house.
Original blocks versus subdivided sites
On an original block the move is easy: a wide street, a private driveway, a short carry and room to position the truck. On a subdivided site it is a different job. Units at the rear sit down a long shared driveway with a bend and no turning space at the end, which usually means the truck parks at the front and the crew carries. That is entirely workable when it is known in advance and expensive in time when it is not, so when we quote we ask which unit you are and how far back it sits, then size the crew accordingly.
Older homes and newer townhouses
The remaining postwar houses tend to have narrow hallways and tight door openings, so fridges and larger lounges often need internal doors off their hinges. Many also have a shed, a workshop or a large garage, and those hold considerably more than people account for — tools, garden equipment, building materials and stored boxes. The newer townhouses are the reverse: easy entry, then a narrow straight staircase with a tight landing turn where wardrobes and bed bases stall. We measure the awkward pieces against the route before the day either way.
The shopping strips and main roads
The Alfrieda Street and Main Road strips are busy through the day with tight kerbside parking and loading restrictions, so any shopfront or above-shop move is planned around the available loading times. On the residential side, Main Road East and West, Furlong Road and Kings Road carry heavy traffic in both peaks.
Getting around
St Albans station sits on the Sunbury line in the middle of the suburb, with Ginifer station to the south, and the area is well served by buses. For trucks the useful routes are Main Road East and West, Furlong Road, Kings Road, Sunshine Avenue and the Western Ring Road, which gives a direct run north, east or west outside peak periods.
Where St Albans moves go
Most stay in the west and north-west: Sunshine, Deer Park, Keilor Downs, Kealba, Taylors Lakes or St Albans itself, with a lot of movement between the older houses and the new townhouses a few streets away. There is also a steady flow of first-home buyers arriving from the inner west.
