Removalists in Travancore
Travancore is a small suburb in the City of Moonee Valley, roughly five kilometres north-west of the CBD, bounded by Flemington, Ascot Vale and Moonee Ponds. It is unusual for its size and its housing: much of the suburb is made up of interwar brick apartment blocks built as a planned estate, with period houses and later units filling out the rest.
Interwar blocks and stairwells
The apartment stock is what defines a move here. These blocks are solid and well built, and almost none of them have a lift. Stairwells are narrow with tight half-landings, entrance doors are period width, and the flats themselves have small hallways and doorways designed long before modern furniture. Sofas, mattresses, wardrobes and fridges are the pieces that do not simply go up, and the answer is usually dismantling, a different route or extra crew rather than force. We ask which floor you are on and what the stairwell looks like when we quote, so the day is staffed and priced for the reality rather than the floor plan.
Parking and truck position
Off-street parking is limited and much of the surrounding street network is permit-restricted, with cars parked both sides. Where the truck can stand decides how much of the day is carrying rather than loading, and on the tighter streets a temporary parking arrangement through the council is worth organising in advance since notice is generally required. Where no space can be held we plan an early start and, if necessary, shuttle to the truck from a workable position nearby.
Main roads and trams
Mount Alexander Road runs along the suburb with trams and clearway restrictions through peak periods, and CityLink passes close by. Tram tracks and clearways limit where a truck can legally stop on the main road, so wherever possible loading happens on the side streets and the carry is planned into the quote rather than gambling on a gap in the traffic.
Getting around
Travancore has no railway station of its own, with Newmarket and Ascot Vale nearby on the Craigieburn line, and trams and buses along Mount Alexander Road. For trucks the practical routes are Mount Alexander Road, Racecourse Road and Flemington Road, with CityLink and the Tullamarine Freeway a short run north for anything leaving the area.

Most stay in the inner north-west: Flemington, Ascot Vale, Moonee Ponds, Kensington, Essendon or Brunswick West. There is also constant turnover in the apartment stock, with tenants moving in and out on short cycles and part-loads far more common than full house moves.
