What Our Client Says

Removalists in Viewbank

Viewbank sits in the City of Banyule, roughly 14 kilometres north-east of the CBD, between Heidelberg, Rosanna, Lower Plenty and the parkland along the Yarra and Plenty rivers. It was built out mainly through the 1970s and 80s on rising ground above the river flats: brick homes on generous blocks, streets and courts following the contours, mature gardens, and larger rebuilds appearing among the originals.

Slope, steps and driveways

The terrain shapes almost every job here. A large share of properties sit above or below street level, with driveways that climb or drop away, and front paths that reach the door via a flight of steps. Steps slow every trip, rule out trolleys for part of the load and usually mean more crew rather than a bigger truck. We ask about the driveway grade and the number of steps when we quote, so the day is staffed and priced for what is actually there. Where a loaded truck cannot safely get in and back out, we plan a shuttle from the street and include the carry in the price.

Split levels and large blocks

Much of the original housing is split-level, with half-flights between living areas and a garage under the main floor, so wardrobes, sofas and appliances often need to come apart or take an external route. The block sizes also mean sheds, workshops, garden machinery, trailers and under-house storage are common, and they routinely add more volume than the house does — consistently the most underestimated part of an inventory, so we ask about outbuildings specifically.

Courts and street width

Court bowls here look roomy and are usually the hardest place to turn a long truck once cars are parked around the edge, and several streets are narrow with trees overhanging the carriageway, which makes vehicle height worth checking as well as width. On those addresses a smaller truck doing two runs is often the faster choice.

Getting around

Viewbank has no railway station, with Rosanna, Macleod and Heidelberg the nearest connections and buses serving the suburb. For trucks the useful routes are Banksia Street, Lower Plenty Road, Rosanna Road and the Greensborough Highway, with the Eastern Freeway a short run south. Rosanna Road carries heavy through traffic in both peaks.

Where Viewbank moves go

Most stay in the north-east: Rosanna, Heidelberg, Lower Plenty, Eltham, Ivanhoe or Greensborough. There is also a regular pattern of downsizing off the sloping blocks into flatter local townhouses, and families moving in for the space and the river parkland.
