Removalists in Williamstown North

Williamstown North sits in the City of Hobsons Bay, roughly eight kilometres south-west of the CBD, between Williamstown, Newport, Spotswood and the industrial land along the bay. It is a quieter, more workaday neighbour to Williamstown proper: interwar and postwar homes on regular blocks, a scattering of older cottages, townhouse infill on the subdivided sites, and working commercial and industrial premises along its northern and western edges.

Streets and driveways

The land here is flat and the street grid is regular, which makes positioning a truck easier than in most inner-western suburbs. Many houses have their own driveway and a short carry. Where it tightens is the townhouse infill, where two or three dwellings share a single driveway with a bend and no turning space at the end, so the truck parks at the front and the crew carries. We ask which unit you are and how far back it sits when we quote so the carry is priced in rather than added on the day.

Older homes and newer townhouses

The original houses have narrow hallways and door openings well under modern widths, so fridges and larger lounges commonly need internal doors off their hinges, and original floorboards and plaster detail warrant protection rather than speed. The newer townhouses are the reverse: easy entry, then a narrow staircase with a tight landing turn where wardrobes and bed bases stall. We measure the awkward pieces against the route beforehand either way.

Industrial neighbours and main roads

The commercial and industrial land nearby means steady truck traffic on the through roads, and for business moves it means sites with proper roller-door access and room to turn. Melbourne Road and Kororoit Creek Road carry the local traffic and are heavy in both peaks, and the West Gate Freeway ramps are slow morning and mid-afternoon, so start times are set to load before the roads fill.

Getting around

North Williamstown station sits on the Williamstown line, with buses connecting to Newport and Footscray. For trucks the practical routes are Melbourne Road, Kororoit Creek Road, Champion Road and Douglas Parade, with the West Gate Freeway close by for anything heading to the city or across the river.

Where Williamstown North moves go

Most stay in the inner west: Williamstown, Newport, Spotswood, Altona, Yarraville or Seddon. There is also a steady flow of buyers arriving for the bayside access at a lower entry point than Williamstown proper.
